Career
Maria-Daniela Pomohaci’s PhD is focused on the scavenger community in colonial Calcutta. She has two Master’s Degrees, one in Sociology from the UNESCO Department for the Study of Intercultural and Interreligious Exchanges at the University of Bucharest, and one in Indian history from CeMIS. Her Master’s theses focused on changes in the caste system in colonial India and issues of communist involvement in labour strikes in colonial West Bengal. She completed a BA in history at the University of Bucharest. Her thesis focused on the political and religious evolution of the caste system in India.
