Career

Maria-Daniela Pomohaci’s PhD is focused on the scav­enger com­mu­ni­ty in colo­nial Cal­cut­ta. She has two Master’s Degrees, one in Soci­ol­o­gy from the UNESCO Depart­ment for the Study of Inter­cul­tur­al and Inter­re­li­gious Exchanges at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Bucharest, and one in Indi­an his­to­ry from CeMIS. Her Master’s the­ses focused on changes in the caste sys­tem in colo­nial India and issues of com­mu­nist involve­ment in labour strikes in colo­nial West Ben­gal. She com­plet­ed a BA in his­to­ry at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Bucharest. Her the­sis focused on the polit­i­cal and reli­gious evo­lu­tion of the caste sys­tem in India.
