Career

Sven­n­ja von Jan (CeMIS) has been employed as a research fel­low in the MIDA project since July 2022 and is pri­mar­i­ly respon­si­ble for index­ing and inte­grat­ing new archives into the database.

Her research focus­es on Indo-Ger­man entan­gled his­to­ry, migra­tion his­to­ry in the 20th cen­tu­ry, micro­his­to­ry and bio­graph­i­cal research. Her PhD project is on South Asian migra­tion to Euro­pean port cities between 1920 and 1950, and she is cur­rent­ly work­ing on a project pro­pos­al on South Asian com­mu­nist auto­bi­ogra­phies in inter­na­tion­al comparison.
